Learn the Basics Lighting design is the process of creating a lighting system for a specific space. It involves selecting and positioning lighting fixtures, as well as controlling the quality, quantity, and direction of the light. A well-designed lighting system can make a space look larger, brighter, and more inviting. Lighting design is a creative process, and there are many ways to achieve the desired effect. Here are some basic tips to get you started. Choose the Right Fixtures: The first step in lighting design is to select the right fixtures. Consider their size, shape, wattage, and the type of light they emit. Some fixtures are better suited to ambient lighting, while others may be better for task lighting. Choose fixtures that fit the style of the room, and make sure they will provide the desired level of illumination. Plan the Layout: Once you have chosen the fixtures, you need to plan the layout. Consider the size of the room, the type of activities that will be taking place, and the type of lighting you would like to provide. Also, consider how the light will be dispersed throughout the space and if there are any areas that need to be blocked out. Our team is here to keep things spinning right. When your electrical isn’t performing the way it should call the professionals: (815) 323-0234.

1. Install motion-activated lights in hallways and staircases. Motion-activated lights can provide a visual alert to a deaf or hard-of-hearing person when someone is entering a room or coming down the stairs.
2. Utilize LED lights in living spaces. LED lights are known to be brighter and can help create a visual environment that is easier to navigate.
3. Place nightlights in hallways and bedrooms. Nightlights can provide a soft glow that can be used as a visual cue for a deaf or hard-of-hearing person to know when someone is entering the room.
4. Use dimmable lights in living spaces. Dimmable lights allow the user to adjust the light intensity to the desired level. This can be helpful for a deaf or hard-of-hearing person who may need lighter than a regular person to be able to communicate effectively.
5. Install strobe lights near exits. Strobe lights can provide a visual alert for a deaf or hard-of-hearing person when the alarm is activated.
6. Install wall-mounted light switches in easily accessible areas. This will make it easier for a deaf or hard-of-hearing person to be able to control the lights in their home.
